Why does a photo appear in an article?

Q. How do I mark a comment as abuse?

Please let us know if a reader’s comment is obscene, abusive, threatening, unlawful, harassing, defamatory, profane or racially offensive by filling a contact form to describe the problem.

Q. My name appears in the comment. Can you remove my comments or name?

A. Our editorial and legal policy is that we do not remove comments from articles without a very serious reason.

This is because your comments are part of a public record. This is no different than if you are interviewed in a newspaper, or on TV or radio. Those media cannot take your quote off the printed page nor erase a tape on which they have recorded an interview.

We will, however, take a further look at the instructions or cautions on our site to determine if they should be reworded to reflect the fact that a comment, once posted, lives in perpetuity and is indexed by search engines.

Q. I forgot my password. How do I get it back?

A. You can request a new password here.

Q. I don’t live in San Francisco. How do I switch to another city?

Q. Why does a photo appear in an article?

A. San Francisco City And Press uses photos from Flickr.com to accompany certain articles. These photos are under Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 Generic license.

San Francisco City And Press can’t match all articles with photos, due to the workload and the limited number of Flickr photos under Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 Generic license.
